EMDR & Trauma-Informed Recovery

Experience evidence-based resolution for PTSD and emotional trauma using a premier, NICE-recommended therapy framework at our Harley Street clinic.

The Science of Healing

What is EMDR?

When a person experiences a traumatic event, the brain’s natural ability to process information can become overwhelmed. The memory is often stored in a "raw," maladaptive form, trapped in the nervous system with the original sights, sounds, and emotions.

EMDR utilises the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model. By using bilateral stimulation—typically guided eye movements—the therapy stimulates the brain's information-processing system.

This allows the traumatic memory to be "reprocessed" and integrated into the brain’s healthy, functional memory networks, removing its emotional "sting."

Clinical Scope

What EMDR Can Treat

Widely recognised as the gold standard for PTSD, EMDR is highly effective for a range of conditions where past experiences impact current mental health.

01 Complex Trauma (C-PTSD)
02 Phobias & Panic Disorders
03 Performance Anxiety
04 Chronic Pain Management
05 Complex Grief
06 Treatment-Resistant Depression

Clinical Excellence

The Burlington Clinic Approach: Integrative Synergy

What sets our clinic apart is our ability to combine psychological and biological interventions. We often find that EMDR is most effective when the brain is in a state of high neuroplasticity.

For patients undergoing Specialist Medical Infusions, EMDR can be introduced during the "plasticity window" following treatment.

This allows for the rapid processing of trauma that may have previously been "stuck" through traditional therapies.
